What I’m reading

Where Good Ideas Come From by Steven Johnson. Finished reading it. I think there is good data here, and some good observations worth pondering. I’m not sure I agree with his conclusions. It was published 14 years ago, so I have the benefit of having seen how some things have played out.
Some Syntopicon introductions. I’m in the D’s. Democracy, Desire, Dialectic. These are always really interesting to me because there is a lot of different angles and insights. I certainly don’t agree with all of it, and there are some significant areas where our level of understanding has shifted considerably. But the thoroughness of these short introductions to the topics is always thought provoking and educational. Contact with them always enlarges me. That does not sound right.

Ongoing reading projects

These are books that I plan to take my time with. Maybe years.

Complete Essays by Montaigne.
The Syntopicon - So dense with ideas.
Basic Economics by Sowell.
Collected Fictions and Selected Non-fictions by Borges.

What I’m doing

Simplifying, reorganizing, and reassessing.

Some photography, nature and garden variety.
Started working on my generative art and plotting tools again. Taking a much more mindful approach.

What I’m listening to

Dave-1 and A-Trak DJ sets, these are very good, but “The Brothers Macklovitch” does get a bit tiring.
